Modularity, Grid, Pattern
As you may already know, Instagram features our photographs in a grid platform. This allows users to select different grid patterns for their instagram profile's feed.
If you go to the link above, you will see that my newest photo's layout is different from my other photos's. Rather than simply posting the image on Instagram, I split it across a number of tiles so that the image would look big on my profile page. This is called the "puzzle layout" where a single image is split into multiple ones and each individual part is posted on Instagram to recreate its larger version. In order to build the final image correctly, all the individual pieces must be posted in sequence from the bottom right to the top left.
The puzzle layout can be created using Photoshop. In case you are not familiar with Photoshop, there are many free apps that you can utilize to cut your pictures into 3x3, 3x4, etc... For this artwork, I used the app called "Grids" to split my image into a 3x3 grid. This app introduces a fast and convenient way to create the puzzle layout as it has the option of uploading the grids directly to Instagram.
It cannot be denied that this grid pattern can make a strong visual impact and create an outstanding feed. However, the downside of this layout is that you have to upload a set of three images in one go if you want to maintain previous grids.
